Lovat's Step approach to rituals
Bat Mitzvah
Step 1: Entry
The Shabbat after the girls 12th Birthday, family and friends gather at the synagogue to celebrate the young lady and her new stage of life.
Step 2: Preparation
Girls need to learn Hebrew before the Religious ceremony so that they can read the Hebrew script. To prepare, they also need to study the language to make sure they understand and have knowledge about what they are reading. They usually get taught in classes or by their parents.
Step 3: Climax
The ceremony now begins by recognizing the girl as a Bat Mitvah. The Rabi continues with some blessing, then calling the Bat Mitzvah up to the Torah. It in then, when the girl reads the Torah in Hebrew. After this the Bat Mitzvah says a speech, thanking everyone for coming and why she is now glad to be a Bat Mitzvah.
Step 4: Celebration
After the ceremony, a big celebration (party) takes place along with a meal. More speeches are held here and plenty of traditional signing and dancing also take place.
Step 5: Return
For a week after the service, the Bat Mitzvah must recite apart of the Torah and contribute in some prayer services.
